"Flock off, feather face!"
_______________________________________
Wow, I just realized I haven't posted a journal since Kara no Kyoukai 7 came out. Talk about slacking. I went and skipped over Christmas, New Years, the launch of Hideki Kamiya's new action game Bayonetta, and a metric ton of real world events! Well damn, I guess I have some rambling to bore you with.
How should I approach this; old to new, new to old, or all mixed up? You know what, let's just wing this.
So I was taking online classes with Full Sail in the hopes of working towards my Master's. Key word,
was. Unfortunately, after giving several classes a shot, I just plain hated it. The online platform did not work for me at all. As such, I have withdrawn from the program, and am looking to take those funds in a new direction. Don't get me wrong, I still love Full Sail. One of the greatest schools on the planet, but those online classes just were not designed for someone seeking the trademarked "Full Sail experience." It was something different altogether.
This has lead me to look into other possibilities, and topping my list right now is SCAD's Illustration program. It looks like it can fill a lot of holes in my technique, get me to try many new things, and help me go in the direction I really wanted. I'm still gathering information, and researching, but that's a definite possibility right now. The unfortunate side of that choice is that I'll have to move to Savannah, likely in a dorm, which conflicts with my other plan of trying to obtain an Alaskan Klee Kai. ; ; Ah well, I shall get a mini-husky in the future, education comes first. Especially since I'll need money to pay for said mini-husky.
In musical news, I got several new CDs not too long ago. Namely, The Black Mages III: Darkness and Starlight, which is mind blowingly amazing. In fact, just watch this live performance of the
title track. I also got two game soundtracks. One for Persona PSP, as it came with the very fun game, and the other from one of my old favorites. That's right, Devil May Cry. Not 3, not 4, not that abomination mistakenly referred too as 2, but the original Devil May Cry. Tell me
Ultra Violet isn't one of the best boss themes ever! In fact, I made it my ring tone. So yeah, whenever someone calls me, Nelo Angelo leaps down from the sky and tries to kill me! How awesome is that!? (Disclaimer: Nelo Angelo may or may not actually come down upon the playing of said ring tone.)
In nerdy animu news, Durarara is pretty darn cool. Mostly, though, I want that helmet. I want that helmet so freaking bad! I would totally ride through the city streets with a cat ear helmet if I only I could find such a thing! It is awesome, and I think more motorcycle helmet makers need to embrace this concept. >.>
In nerdy videogame news, Bayonetta is amazing. Trashy, campy, and amazing. The fact that Bayonetta even says the best one liner ever, "Flock off feather face!" only adds to how amazing it is. If ever you've enjoyed a solid action game, get it. It's like Hideki Kamiya showing Capcom everything they've done wrong his previous brain child, Devil May Cry(Which we've already covered, I love the original(and I love 3)). If you need incentive, though, it has Rocket Launching Tonfas AND Gun-Nunchaku. Now then, go buy it. I know you're already sold.
Now then, onto art news, which will transition into, "haha, I went to Sea World today and you didn't!"
First up, >
Click Here. See what I did there? Yeah, that really poorly made website is my new page, until, well, I stop being a lazy bum and make a
real website. Either way, it looks alright, and serves the purpose well enough. It has information on various projects, and I even threw in an extremely long blog post if you're up for more rambling. I'll continue to update it with project information, some various artwork, and possibly even things that wont appear here, so feel free to browse around every now and then.
Now for that sneaky transition, that is notably less sneaky now that I've warned you it's coming. Today I went to Sea World and got some fun sketching done. I've uploaded the two best from that already, so if you want to see something completely different than my usual gallery, those would be it. It was a lot of fun, and helped me get back to trying non-animu/cartoony/comic bookish visuals, which is something I really do need to do more often, honestly. The penguin will probably be used as a portfolio piece too, since I rather like how he came out.
There's more to Sea World than that, though. Tons of animals to see, hilarious shows to watch, and I got to go on Manta again, finally. God I love that ride. It hasn't quite topped Kraken in my list of "Best Roller Coasters in the History of Ever," but the fact it's even one slot under Kraken is an achievement. Oh, have I never covered my love of roller coasters? Here, let me give you my top five:
1.
Steel Dragon 2000: Located at Nagashima Onsen, Japan, this beautiful hunk of steel is over three hundred seventeen feet tall, and clocks in at around ninety five miles per hour. Two of its original records have now been broken, but it remains the worlds longest roller coaster, and it's one hell of a ride. If you're ever in Japan, go on it. You wont regret it...unless you're afraid of heights.
2.
Hypersonic XLC: Originally located in Paramount's King's Dominion in Virginia, this ride was the definition of short, but sweet. Ever wonder what it feels like to be launched off of an Aircraft carrier? Well, it's probably a lot like riding Hypersonic. This little devil goes from zero to eighty in under two seconds! Unfortunately, the ride has been taken down, and is currently up for sale. So if you've not been on it already, you may never have the chance.
3.
Kraken: Sea World Orlando's first roller coaster happens to be one amazing ride. It was one of the earlier floorless coasters, and remains, by far, the best I've ever been on. The ride has speed, twists, turns, and plenty of inversions to put the sky at your feet. The specs aren't built to impress, but the track layout is just plain perfect!
4.
Manta: Sea World Orlando's newest coaster, Manta completely stunned me the first time I rode it. It will send your stomach into your head, and it's just plain intense! This flying coaster is designed every bit as well as Kraken, and though it comes in a smaller package, it's no less thrilling!
5.
Montu: Montu is actually the first "big" coaster I ever went on. In fact, you could say it was Montu which began my closet obsession with spiraling through the air at high speeds with nothing but a shoulder harness between me an certain doom. This inverted roller coaster in Busch Gardens Tampa is one great ride, with some fantastic dips in and out of the ground, all while flipping upside down! Like Kraken it's not the numbers that make this ride amazing, but the track layout, it's just wonderfully designed.
I'm such a nerd. Cartoon nerd, game nerd, AND coaster nerd. >.>;
